Copper turns weak on lower demand, global cues

prices went down by Rs 2 per kg at the metal market today owing to slackened demand from consuming industries amid a weak trend overseas.

Traders said besides easing demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market, a weak trend overseas where the fell, extending recent declines following a renewed plunge in global equity markets and another big rise in inventories led to the fall.

Globally, copper for delivery in three-month was trading down 0.4 per cent at USD 6,818 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap 2 to Rs 404 per kg.

Following are today's (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 124-130, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 780-785, gun Rs 227, Bell Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 404, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 123, lead imported Rs 129, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
