Cops foil MP man's immolation bid in front of local SP

A man tried to immolate himself in front of the superintendent of police in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district but was saved by personnel on guard duty there.

An official identified the man as Kanhia Lal Agrawal (40) and said his condition was critical.

"My neighbour Aman Dubey is trying to extort money by threatening to implicate me in a motorcycle theft case. The police is not acting on my complaints," Agrawal said.

SP Umesh Shukla said Dubey (35), a resident of Sarani here, has been booked and efforts were on to arrest him.
