Police today booked three travel agents, including a couple, for duping two youths of Rs 4,70,000 on pretext of sending them abroad.

Police identified the trio as Ashok Kumar and his wife Baljit Kaur, both residents of Abadpura in Jalandhar and their accomplice Jagrup Singh of Dashmesh Nagar Lola village in Amritsar district.

A case has been registered against them under Section 420 (cheating) of the IPC on separate complaints by Jaswinder Kumar, a resident of Palahigate and Gaurav Kumar of Sugar Mill Colony, police said.

Jaswinder had alleged in his complaint that he was defrauded of Rs 1,77,000 by the agents under the garb of sending him to New Zealand and Gaurav had alleged that he too was duped of Rs 2,93,000 on the promise of sending him to the same country, the officers said.

The complainants alleged that neither they were sent to New Zealand nor was their money returned, police said, adding that investigation was on.
