A young couple who used to dupe unsuspecting people by posing as police officer and editor of private news channel were arrested by the local police here.
Sumit Mehra and his wife Deepa Mehra were arrested by the crime branch on the complaint made by one Pradip Sahni, police said.
During interrogation, Sumit revealed that his wife used to make obscene phone calls to unsuspecting people and used to record their conversation and later extort money by posing as incharge of mahila thana and police station incharge saying that a formal complaint has been received in this regard, police said.

Later he used to make calls posing as editor of private news channel claiming that the victim was sitting with him and merely paying the police would not serve the purpose and demand money, police said.
Two smart phones, Rs twenty thousand in cash have been seized from them, police said adding that further action is being taken.
