Couple commit suicide by consuming poison

A couple allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Karhara village under Mahalgaon police outpost in Araria district, police said.

Md. Shaheed and Bibi Sabnam consumed some poisonous substance last night following a quarrel as the woman did not know her husband had another wife.

The two were found dead at their house by family members this morning, he said, adding the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Shaheed fell in love with Sabnam (20) in Delhi recently where he worked as labourer and the two entered wedlock through court marriage, police said.

All hell broke loose once the couple reached their native village where Sabnam found that her husband had another wife.
