A Mahila court here today convicted a couple for murdering a woman in December 2010 over a loan of Rs 2,000.
Judge Raman sentenced Sait Rowthar to life imprisonment and his wife Hyria to seven years rigorous imprisonment.
According to prosecution, Rowthar allegedly murdered Sophia Beevi when she demanded that he pay back back Rs.2,000 loan taken by him.
Rowthar and his wife later took the body in a tricycle and disposed it near a tank at R.S.Mangalam area.
He also took the jewels worn by Hyria and sold them.
Holding them guilty, the Judge also slapped a fine of Rs.10,000 each on Rowthar and his wife.
