The bodies of a couple were found from their jhum hut near Chhanchhuahna village in eastern Aizawl district today, rousing suspicions of murder.
Aizawl district superintendent of police C Laldina said the bodies were spotted by people having jhum plots nearby.
The couple were working in their jhum farm and had stayed in the hut there since Monday.
The bodies bore wounds, specially on their throats which were suspected to have been inflicted with sharp weapons, he said.
In another incident, a person working for Pentecostal Church and his 12-year-old daughter were drowned in Mar river near Hortoki village in Kolasib district this morning.
Their boat had overturned in the middle of the swollen river, police said adding search is on to find them.
