Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee had been fighting the CPI(M) for many years but now it has become a friend as the party with only 19 MPs need support from others to get its no-confidence motion admitted in Lok Sabha, WBPCC president Pradip Bhattacharya said at a public meeting at Bagnan in Howrah district.

Trinamool, Bhattacharya said, had earlier termed the BJP communal but now that party's help is also being sought.

Attacking the UPA government on FDI in multi-brand retail and corruption, Banerjee on Saturday had announced her party would bring a no-confidence motion against it in the winter session of Parliament and sought support of UPA allies and Left parties. She had also expressed readiness to talk to BJP.

Bhattacharya expressed confidence that the no-confidence motion against the UPA government, if brought by the Trinamool, would be defeated.

"Congress is a 128-year-old party and it will remain there even after another 128 years. It will not die. But that cannot be said about BJP, CPI(M) or Trinamool Congress," he said.

Asit Mitra, the lone Congress MLA, of Howrah district, was present at the meeting.
