CPI(M) today approached the Election Commission complaining against Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra, how he could assure the administrative and police officials, transferred on the poll panel order, that they will be revert to their original posting after the Lok Sabha elections.

State's Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta said that the Commission had received the CPI(M)'s complaint.

"The CPI(M) has directly sent its complaint to the ECI with a copy to me, which I have forwarded to the Commission immediately," Gupta told PTI.

The CPI(M) questioned how the chief secretary could assure the transferred officials before the end of the polls that they would be transferred back to their earlier posting.

The notifications issued on April 9 from the Home department and the Personnel and Administrative Reforms department signed by the CS, had transferred the officials with immediate effect till completion of the election process.

It had said that the the transfers would remain effective only till the completion of the election and that they would be reverted to their previous posting thereafter.
