CRPF chief visits Naxal-hit Gadchiroli

The DG flew to this Naxal-affected district and straightway went to Pendhri, a tribal village in Dhanora taluka where a company of the CRPF is posted.

He held discussions with the senior officers of the paramilitary force, which has been deployed in this Eastern Maharashtra district for the last over four years, regarding anti-Naxal operations and other strategic issues, they said.

As many as 12 CRPF jawans were killed in a landmine blast triggered by Maoists at Pustola near here in March.

DIG of CRPF A P Singh and Commandants of battalions posted in the district participated in the meeting and gave details of activities being carried out by security forces.

 

Senior Maharashtra Police officials, including DIG Ravindra Kadam and District Superintendent of Police Mohd Suvez Haque, also attended the meeting, the sources said.

Five battalions of CRPF and one of Combat Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) are posted in district, which borders Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
