Radical outfit Dal Khalsa here today denounced former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for favouring reservation for Jat Sikhs in the OBC category.
"Jat Sikhs enjoy higher status in the social hierarchy and hence the economic criteria should be made the basis for reservation not caste," Dal Khalsa head H S Dhami said.
Dhami batted for reservation to the economically weaker section of the society irrespective of caste.

Thousands of farmers have small land holdings who are barely managing to make both ends meet, such weaker sections should be given reservation, Dhami said.
Lashing out at Amarinder and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, he said the issue of inclusion of Jat Sikhs in the OBC category was against the spirit of Sikh doctrine of casteless society.
He said the competitive politics being resorted to by the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal and the opposition Congress on the issue of inclusion of Jat Sikhs in the OBC category would prove to be another step in vitiating the fragile social fabric of Punjab.
