The death toll in the Sunday's helicopter crash in suburban Goregaon today rose to two with one of the injured persons succumbing at a hospital here.
Ritesh Amrish Modi, who had suffered grievous injuries in the chopper crash at Aarey Colony, succumbed to his wounds this evening, hospital sources said.
In all there were four persons in the ill-fated helicopter.
Besides the 32-year-old Mumbai resident Modi, his wife Vrinda and technician Sanjeev Shankar were injured in the accident on Sunday afternoon. The chopper's pilot, Prafulla Mishra (53), died the same day.
The trio was undergoing treatment at Seven Hills Hospital, a private multi-speciality medical facility in suburban Andheri.
Ritesh was declared dead at around 9.10 pm in Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU), the sources said.
"As this is a medico-legal case, the death will be informed to Aarey Police Station. What to do next in the case depends on them. The cause of the death was traumatic brain injury," said a doctor at the hospital.
The private chopper, which had taken off from Juhu with the couple and the technician, was on a joyride when it crashed apparently due to a technical problem. The flying machine caught fire after hitting the ground.
Ritesh and his wife Vrinda, residents of suburban Borivali, were reportedly celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary with the joyride.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is probing the mishap.
