Death toll in MP bus crash rises to four

The death toll in yesterday's bus accident here has gone up to four with three injured passengers succumbing at a hospital here, police said today.

Earlier yesterday, a bus packed with passengers collided with a truck near here. One of them, Rewaram Jatav (58), was killed on the spot, while 36 others were injured.

Police said three of the injured died during treatment at a hospital here late last night. The deceased were identified as Anil Jatav (30), Kallu Ahirwar (62) and Kashiram Jatav (40).

The bus occupants were returning to Deori town from Sagar after attending a programme of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
 

The mishap took place on the National Highway 27, about 10km away from the district headquarters.

Home Minister Bhupendra Singh visited the survivors in the hospital and later announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 each to the families of the deceased, Rs 50,000 to seriously wounded and Rs 15,000 to those injured lightly.
