A Delhi Police official and his friend, who owns a transport company, allegedly duped the owner of a petrol pump of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of filling diesel into vehicles attached with the transport company.

Based on a complaint filed by Dharmendra Rao, the owner of a filling & service station, police have arrested the transporter, identified as Vinay Yadav, proprietor of M/s R S Travels, but his friend, identified as Mahendra Yadav, is yet to be arrested.

According to police, an FIR has been registered at Dwarka South police station and the role of Mahendra Yadav is also being investigated.

Rao alleged in his complaint that Mahendra was a police officer with the Delhi Police and he and his transporter friend Vinay ,on September 8 last year, had approached him in his office, situated at Section 19 of Dwarka.

"Vinay introduced himself as the owner of a fleet of around 110 buses and said he was running the business under the head of M/s RS Travels for the last 12 years and has attached his buses with different organisations.

Vinay told him that to run a transport business, he has to depend upon drivers and helpers to fill the fuel tanks of the vehicles. But he could not trust them," Rao said in his complaint.

Rao also said that both Mehendra and Vinay put a proposal that all the vehicles will use his filling station in future.

"Both asked him to maintain the record of these fillings and at the end of the month, payment would be made by Vinay. Mahendra taking advantage of his uniform induced him to get into the agreement. He started filling the vehicles of Vinay since September 14, 2013," Rao said in his complaint .

Rao also said that whenever he demanded money from Vinay, he expressed his inability to make the payment because of some constraints. He continued to supply the diesel for three months to Vinay but he only made a part payment towards a huge pending amount.

"when he threatened Vinay that he would stop supplying the diesel to his vehicles, he then gave him three cheques worth 1.5 lakh each, but these cheques bounced due to insufficient fund. Vinay later started avoiding him and refused to clear the dues on pretext or the other," he said.

"Police have arrested Vinay Yadav for duping the owner of petrol pump," Additional DCP Dinesh Kumar Gupta said.
