Amid raging controversy over a Shiv Sena MP caught on video purportedly force-feeding a fasting Muslim employee at the Maharashtra Sadan, its authorities have written to the Delhi Police asking them to step up security at the state house.

The duty manager of the new Maharashtra Sadan, which is the guest house of Maharashtra Government, has written a letter to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Tilak Marg in this regard.

"We have received a letter from the Sadan for security and to avoid any law and order issue, we have deployed our force there. We will make sure no untoward incident occurs in the aftermath of the incident. Appropriate action will be taken if necessary," said Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) SBS Tyagi.

The duty manager also informed the police via another letter yesterday that the 11 Shiv Sena MPs had told him to ask their Resident Commissioner to meet them at Parliament House.
