The Directorate of Economic Offences (DEO) of West Bengal government has registered cases against seven financial companies for not giving assured returns to depositors.

OSD with the DEO Dilip Adak said that the companies were Alchemist Township, iCore Jewellery and Gems, Senco Jewellery Palace Abhushon, Rishta Fisheries & Infra, Equinox Infratech, Rose Valley Group and Pincon Group of Companies.

These cases were under investigation, he said.

Adak said that the directorate would first identify the properties of these companies, attach them, put them up for auction after getting permission from the court and return the money to depositors.

The directorate registered the cases on the basis of complaints filed at various police stations of the state.

He said that the DEO was exercising powers under the West Bengal Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishments Act, 2013, after the rules were framed in 2016.

Regarding Equinox, the directorate arrested a director of the company whose son was apprehended earlier, he said.
