A man allegedly committed suicide after shooting his wife and son dead and injuring his 15- year-old daughter at Model Town locality here today.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Jagmeet Pal Singh, who was in the iron trade, had suffered huge losses and was under heavy debt, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) D Nimble said.
The businessman (46) had been depressed for some time, the police officer said.
The deceased wife and son were identifed as Jagmeet Kaur (40) and Jashan Deep Singh (19).
The three of them died on the spot. The daughter Bishan Kaur, who was critically injured, is battling for life in the local DMC hospital, Nimble said.
Investigations are underway and further details are awaited, he added.
