An idol of a saint was found desecrated at a temple at Karhera village under Bhopa police station in the district following which tension prevailed in the area, police said here.
The matter came to light yesterday when devotees found the desecrated idol and protested against the matter, police said.
The BSP activists, including its district president Ravinder Gautam, has demanded strict action against the culprits in this connection.
As a precautionary measure, additional police force has been deployed in the area and security has been tightened.
