Devotees take holy dip on Mauni Amavasya

A large number of devotees today took a holy dip at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati on the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya.

The bathing festival at the "Sangam" remained incident-free, official sources said claiming that the number of people who took a dip could be "well over 30 lakh".

Authorities were on tenterhooks this time as a stampede had claimed nearly 40 lives last year during Mauni Amavasya.
