Devotees throng temple

Thousands of devotees today thronged the Dandayuthapaniswamy temple here on the occasion of the Thai poosam festival.

Celestial wedding of the presiding deities was performed in the evening.

The Holy car procession was taken out from the Periyanayaki Amman temple, where the festival commenced with the flag hoisting on January 11.

The car was started using a earth-mover as the temple elephant had been sent for the rejuvenation camp. Devotees then pulled the car as usual, officials said.
