Did not let development suffer despite mining ban: Goa CM

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that his government did not let the state's development suffer despite a ban on its industry.

"Despite the set back received on account of the ban on mining, one of the engines of economic growth in the state, we did not let the development process suffer," Parrikar said.

He said that infrastructure in the state was being given a boost with the support and guidance of and added that major projects like national highways, bridges, and water supply were being undertaken.

"is poised to take off to the next level of development and it will become a model for the rest of the country," Parrikar claimed.

Hailing Kovind, Parrikar said that the former's life, from a humble beginning to the country's highest Constitutional office, was one of grit, determination and hard work.

"As a Parliamentarian, your focus on education in the rural areas by helping in construction of school buildings and helping students get access to better education facilities is well known," the CM said.

Parrikar said Kovinds tenure as is often praised for the constitution of a judicial commission to investigate irregularities and corruption in the affairs of universities there.

"The praise you received from the political spectrum on the eve of your departure from was indicative of your attitude and maturity in political, administration and Constitutional matters," Parrikar said.

He added that the country was proud that a man of Kovinds eminence was President at a time when was successfully marching towards becoming a global leader.
