Puducherry unit of DMK today demanded the recall of Lt Governor Virendra Kataria, alleging he was initiating steps to shift the Chief Secretary in violation of the model code of conduct.
DMK convenor M A S Subramanian in a release said Kataria was "intensively initiating" steps to replace Chief Secretary Chetan B Sanghi under alleged pressure from Union Minister V Narayanasamy.
Subramanian said the move to shift Sanghi was being taken without consulting the elected government.
The Lt Governor should function without giving room for any political sentiments. "But Kataria was intensively initiating steps to replace Sanghi which showed that he is functioning in support of the Congress Minister," he charged.
