DMK Monday filed a complaint against Tamil Nadu Power Minister P Thangamani with the vigilance directorate alleging corruption in coal purcahase and wind power procurement, a charge dismissed by the ruling AIADMK as false.

DMK organising secretary R S Bharathi in his complaint to the Director, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, alleged Thangamani indulged in corruption, mismanagement of funds and financial irregularities in the state-run electricity monolith Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation.

Thangamani is the fourth minister in the state against whom the DMK has filed a complaint with the DVAC levelling corruption charges.

The complaint, a copy of which was made available to the media, alleged corruption in "purchase of low quality coal, procurement of wind power, bogus energy allotment made without generation.." among others.

It urged the DVAC to register a case against Thangamani and other public servants who "colluded" and investigate the matter as per law.

When contacted, AIADMK spokesperson R M Babu Murugavel denied the allegations. "These are false charges, anybody can make a complaint against anyone, DMK leaders themselves know that there is no truth in their complaint," he told PTI.

Already, the DMK has filed complaints alleging corruption against Chief Minister K Palaniswami, his deputy O Panneerselvam and Local Administration Minister S P Velumani with the DVAC and also moved the Madras High Court alleging inaction by the vigilance.
