The Delhi University and College Karamchari Union (DUCKU) is the association of the varsity's non-teaching staffers and its members are on a dharna since August 7.

Their concerns include filling of the 5,000 vacant posts by employees who have been working on ad hoc or daily-wage basis, and changes in pay scales.

The agitating members say they have repeatedly written to the university Vice Chancellor but to no avail.

A delegation of DUCKU led by Delhi MP Jai Prakash Agarwal met Sibal and during the meeting they informed him about their concerns.

DUCKU president Raj Pal said in a statement after the meeting that Sibal had assured them of looking into the issue.

"A joint committee consisting officials of MHRD, UGC and Delhi University will be formed which will consider the demands and submit its report to MHRD within 15 days," he said.
