An Election Commission team visited the border district of South Dinajpur and held meetings with the district election officers and police administration today in view of the upcoming state assembly polls in West Bengal.
The five-member team visited a number of polling booths at Gangarampur and Balurghat, spoke to the general people and checked the security preparedness, sources in the election office here said.
The team stressed on peaceful, free and fair polls, the sources said.
Filing of nominations for six assembly seats in South Dinajpur will begin from tomorrow. Polling in the district is scheduled for April 17.
