Singer Ed Sheeran will headline his own concert at famed music venue Madison Square Garden.

The 22-year-old 'A Team' hitmaker will follow in the footsteps of his friends Harry Styles and Taylor Swift by performing at the famed music venue, which is dubbed the world's most famous arena, on November 1, reported New York Post.

"My dad always said you haven't made it till you've played MSG so it's a massive honour. Oh, and it's not the concert theatre, it's the big one (sic)," Sheeran posted on twitter.

In further tweets, the singer referred to his concert as the 'biggest thing in my career to date'.

Sheeran's headline slot at Madison Square Garden follows in the footsteps of his pal Harry Styles, whose band One Direction sold out the arena last December.

The 'Give Me Love' crooner has been working hard to crack America over the past year and is currently supporting 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' singer Swift on her 'Red Tour'.

Sheeran recently revealed he is back in the studio to work on the follow-up to his debut album, '+', and has recorded songs with rapper The Game and dance act Rudimental.
