The East Delhi Municipal Corporation has set up round-the-clock helplines to address complaints related to waterlogging, sanitation and other civic woes during the monsoon season.

Problems related to waterlogging, building collapse, tree fall and sanitation can be reported through the helpline, the EDMC said.

The services would be available till September 15 but could be extended if monsoon prolongs.

East Delhi Mayor Neema Bhagat said the control rooms are equipped with pumps and other required machinery.

"One truck is deployed for the day shift and two departmental trucks are on stand-by in both zonal offices (Shahadra - North & South) for attending to any emergency calls," she said.

The officers are required to keep their phones switched on even during night hours, Bhagat said.

Meanwhile, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) today said, it already has functional 24x7 helplines working in three shifts for such complaints.

NDMC Mayor Preety Agarwal said, "Our control rooms will cater to the complaints directly. Instructions have already been issued to senior officials to monitor the process to ensure proper actions are taken in regards of the complaints."

The corporation, if needed, would work in coordination with the other agencies like the Delhi Police, PWD, DDA, Flood Control and Irrigation Department to respond to complaints faster, she said.
