Engineers India shares up nearly 3% after Q2 earnings

Shares of Engineers India Ltd today rose by nearly 3 per cent after the company reported a 21 per cent jump in September quarter net profit and declared a 1:1 bonus share.

The stock ended with a gain of 2.58 per cent at Rs 266.30 on BSE. During the day, it jumped 3.62 per cent to Rs 269.

At NSE, shares of the company went up by 2.48 per cent to end at Rs 266.30.

In terms of volume, 4.43 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over 33 lakh shares changed hands at NSE during the day.
 

Net profit in July-September rose to Rs 93.75 crore as compared to Rs 77.21 crore in the same period a year before, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Turnover, however, decreased to Rs 394.98 crore for the quarter ended September 30, from Rs 510.32 crore in Q2 of last fiscal.

EIL said its board today recommended issue of bonus shares in the proportion of one new equity share of Rs 5 each for every one existing equity shares of Rs 5 each fully paid up of the company.
