The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch of Odisha Police today arrested a manager of a firm's local branch for allegedly duping the company of Rs 30 cr.
Purna Chandra Rath, Manager of Karam Chand Thapar & Brothers (Coal Sales) Limited's Paradip branch, was arrested in Kolkata while he was about to board a train to Mumbai, a senior Odisha police official said.
The Crime Branch had been probing into an allegation that Rath had committed a fraud of Rs 30 crore by producing false documents and preparing fake bills and cheques and transferred the money to his personal bank account.
Earlier, the Crime Branch had arrested Ramesh Chopra, another staff of the company, on similar charges.
