A factory worker allegedly lost his leg in a mishap in the unit where he was working, following which he has lodged a case of negligence against the unit's owner and contractor, police said today.
In his police complaint, Sanjay said about a month ago, he was transporting iron sheets via an elevator, when due to overloading it went into freefall, police said.
The victim claimed that the iron sheets fell on his left leg, injuring him badly, after which he was rushed to hospital, they said.

After about a month-long treatment, doctors were forced to amputate his leg, leaving him disabled, they said.
In his complaint, Sanjay has alleged that the mishap occurred due to the negligence on the part of the owner and the contractor, making him incapacitated for life.
Police have registered a case and investigation is on.
