Four people, including the father of a 10-year-old girl, were today sentenced by a court here to life imprisonment for sexually abusing her for nearly a year.
The 57-year-old man, a daily wager, sexually abused his daughter in 2015. Also, the child was sexually exploited by three neighbours at Irugur on the city outskirts, the prosecution said.
The girl, a Class 4 student, informed her class teacher, who in-turn complained to the Child Helpline and all-women police station.
Cases were registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) and the father, and three others -- Premkumar (19), Ravikumar (27) and Balakrishnan (33) were arrested.
Mahila court judge S Alli sentenced the accused to life in prison and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on them.
