Over 6700 quintals of pulses were today seized during inspection of godowns by the city government's Food and Civil Supplies department officials to prevent its hoarding and keep a check on their prices in the national capital.
A senior government official said 11 teams, each headed by sub-divisional magistrates with department's officials, were deployed in Alipur, Bawana, Siraspur, Lawrance Road, Narela and Naya Bazar area.
"A total of 27 pulse godowns were today checked and 6776.60 quintals of pulses found in excess of stock limit has been seized from two godowns located at Lawrance Road and Alipur area," the official said.
Food and Civil Supplies Department will continue such inspections to prevent hoarding of pulses by all the dealers including retailers so that pulses are available at affordable price to the consumers in the national capital, he added.
