Female under-trial prisoner dies

A female under-trial prisoner lodged in special jail at Bhanjanagara in Odisha's Ganjam district died, jail officials said today.

Kumari Nayak (60) was admitted to Bhanjanagar hospital following sudden illness and passed away there yesterday, Jail Superintendent, U N Mohapatra said.

Nayak along with her son Santosh from Ramapur village, were lodged in the jail since August, 2014 in a dowry death case.

The body was handed over to her relatives after post-mortem, he said.
