Award-winning Bengali filmmaker Sekhar Das today said very few Bengali films depict the real political picture of present day Kolkota.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing 19th edition of the International Film Festivals of Kerala (IFFK), he said filmmakers triying to depict reality in their movies would not get producers.

"Kolkota has always been a politically volatile city. Unfortunately, only five per cent films in Bengali now reflect the real picture of Kolkota. Those who tell realities through their films are becoming minorities there," Das said after the screening of his film "The Tale of Nayanchampa".

He said he was really happy to see that real-life stories are largely depicted in Malayalam and Marathi films.

"The Tale of Nayanchampa" revolves around a middle-age woman Nayanchampa who travels around eight hours a day to come to the city to serve different households as a domestic help and returns to her village home at night.
