Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF) seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of face value of Rs two lakh from two persons from the city's central business district and arrested them, a senior police official said Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the force intercepted the two persons near iconic Shahid Minar in Esplanade area at around 11 PM Monday night and seized from them around 100 fake currency notes of face value of Rs 2 lakh from their possession, he said.

"Both were arrested. They are Tamil Nadu-based FICN racketeers. We are grilling them to find out whether they are part of any big racket or not," the police official said.
