Fire breaks out in a building in Burrabazar

A fire broke out in a four-storey building at the busy Burrabazar in the city this morning.
The fire broke out in the first floor of the building at Rajakatra area on Strand Road at around 8 am and eight fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after about two hours, police said.
There were no casualties and people living on the upper floors were evacuated safely, the police said.

However, the cause of the fire and extent of damage are yet to be ascertained.
Adjacent roads were immediately cordoned off and normal traffic was restored after the blaze came under control, the police added.
