First of 2 Hinduja power plants set to become operational

Hinduja Group is setting up two power plants in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh with an investment of over Rs 8,000 crore and one of them will become operational by the month-end.

"Our two power projects, each having capacity of 520 MW and known as Vizag Hinduja Power Plant, are coming up in Andhra Pradesh. We are investing Rs 8,000 crore in both the projects," Hinduja Group India Chairman Ashok P Hinduja told PTI here today.

"While the first project will become operational by the month-end itself, the other will become operational by December 30," he said.

The noted industrialist was speaking on the sidelines of a function where Hinduja Foundation Antiquity Collection unveiled collection of 'Ancient Coins of India'.
 

Talking about the pricing of electricity from the two plants, Hinduja said, "We are looking at getting 15.5 per cent of the project cost in return. The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) is already working on it.
