Five of marriage party killed in mishap

Five persons were killed and over three dozen injured in a head-on collision between a van carrying a marriage party and a truck near Banakia village.

The wedding party was on its way to Chibramau in Kannauj district when it collided with a speeding truck last night, killing five persons on the spot, police said today.

The injured were rushed to Bewar Primary Health Centre and later referred to the district hospital where the condition of four of them is stated to be serious, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Nath (50), Hakim Singh (55), Munim (39), Kaptan Singh (41), and Sia Ram (36), all from Kinhavar village under Bhongaon police station.
 

The truck has been seized, police added.
