A delegation of Mettupalayam-based Forest College and Research Institute students, on a protest for past three weeks demanding reservation in appointments of foresters, today held talks with State Agriculture and Forest Ministers over their demands.

The students held talks with Forest Miniser M S M Anandan and Agriculture Minister Agri S S Krishnamoorthy in the presence of top government officials.

Secretariat sources said the government side promised to look into their demands and a positive outcome was likely.

Also, the nitty-gritty linked to the resolution of the issue was also outlined by the government, the sources added.

The students requested the government to increase reservation for forest college students in appointment to forest rangers' post and creation of quota for college graduates in appointment to foresters' post.

A Coimbatore report said the students of the college today began an indefinite "hunger strike".
