A CBI court on Wednesday convicted and sentenced a former official of Central Boad of Film Certification, and his wife in a Rs 8.70 lakh disproportionate assets case filed by the central agency in 2010.
Additional Special Judge for CBI cases Kannammal convicted and sentenced D Rajasekar and his wife to two years' and one year rigorous imprisonment respectively, a CBI statement here said.
The court also directed the agency to confiscate disproportionate assets worth Rs 8.70 lakh, it said.
The Anti-Corruption Branch of CBI, Chennai had registered a case against Rajasekar, a former Regional Officer, CBFC, that while functioning in his position then, he had "acquired assets in his name and that of his wife which is disproportionate to their known sources of income," it added.
