Former Malabar Diocese (Syrian Church) Bishop, Dr Yuhanan Mor Philexinos passed away following heart related ailments at a private hospital in Kalpetta in the district.
He was 74, Church sources said.
Born in Pampady of Kottayam district on December 5, 1941, Mor Philexinos had his primary education in Pampady.

In 1964, he was ordained the deacon (Catholicos Mor Baselios Paulose II) and in 1969 he was ordained the Kassiso by Catholicos Mor Baselios.
Mor Baselios Paulose consecrated him as the Metropolitan at St Mary's Cathedral Church at Meenangadi (Capital of Metropolitan of Malabar) in Kalpetta.
In 2009, his health condition deteriorated and he sent a letter to Patriarch to avoid him from the duty of administering the diocese.
