Former Delhi Mayor Jaishree Panwar has clarified that Rajeev Panwar, who has been arrested in a rape case, belonged to a family different from hers.
In a communication, she referred to a recent media report stating that the Delhi High Court had dismissed a bail application of Rajeev Panwar, who was described as the former Mayor's nephew.
"I would like to clarify that belong to a different family unit and the accused belongs to a different family unit. My family comprises me, my husband, my children and their spouses and grand children.
"After the demise of my father-in-law, we are all living independently having our own residential units and responsibilities. Everyone is responsible for his or her own conduct but here my name has unnecessarily been linked with another family unit," Jaishree Panwar said in the communication.
