A former BSP MLA Yogendra Sagar and his 257 supporters were booked for hindering official works and vandalism while staging a protest against recounting of votes for Zila Panchayat members election here, police said today.
Preeti Sagar, wife of the former Bilsi MLA, was declared elected from ward 28 of Behta Gosai last night by a margin of 61 votes but her Samajwadi Party supported opponent Neha Singh demanding recounting which was accepted by senior officials, an official said.
Yogendra raised objections to the recounting, apprehending that wrong practice will be adopted in it, the official said.

Following which the former MLA with his supporters staged a protest outside Mandi campus here and raised slogans against the administration, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Munnalal said.
The protestors also tried to barge into the counting centre and when stopped, they indulged in brick batting on the police team in which one policeman was injured and a government vehicle was damaged, he said.
An FIR was later lodged in which Yogendra and seven others were named besides 250 unnamed, the SP said.
