Former RS member shoots himself to death

DMK leader and former Rajya Sabha member N Rajendran allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in his car here today, police said.

62-year old Rajendran, who was a Rajya Sabha member as an AIADMK representative from 1995-2001, parked his car near the new bus stand and shot himself around 6 pm, they said.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Police said the reason for the suicide was not known and investigations were on.

A native of Kovilpatti, Rajendran had joined the DMK later and was the Treasurer of the district unit of the party for a few years.
