Four get life term in cleric killing case

A court here sentenced four members of a family, including two brothers, to life imprisonment in connection with the killing of a cleric in 2012.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ravinder kumar has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on the accused Mumtyaz, his brother Idrees, and two others - Mustakim and Saleem - after holding them guilty under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, according to the court order.

A cleric, Maulvi Irfan, was shot dead when he was going to the fields near Tawli village under Shahpur police station in the district on October 19, 2012.

Past enmity was stated as the motive behind the murder.
