Four Indian villagers were injured in a clash between locals and a gang of Bangladeshi cattle lifters at Katigorah in Cachar district, official sources said today.
The violence broke out when about 200 Bangladeshis carrying sharp weapons entered the Indian side near pillar number 1341 in Natanpur area of Katigorah and tried to take away cattle of the villagers yesterday, they said.
Four villagers were injured in the clash and they were identified as Ataur Rahman, Rubel Ahmed, Rajia Begum and Ayesha Begum.
Patrolling BSF personnel forced the Bangladeshis to leave the village and later sent a letter of protest to its Bangladesh counterpart, besides informing them that the matter would be taken up in the next flag meeting, they added.
