The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has appointment Spain's Francisco Garcia as head coach of the Indian senior women's basketball team.
Garcia was involved in various women's professional programs in Spain, Denmark, and Finland for almost 20 years prior joining the BFI.
Since returning to Spain in 2005, Garcia coached various Spanish Federation Youth National Development Camps, in addition to acting as a private development coach for a number of Spain's senior national women's players, including three-time WNBA champion Amaya Valdermoro.

The BFI worked closely with IMG Reliance, its long-term partner for development of the sport in the country, to conduct a thorough search of top-qualified candidates around the world.
"Coach Garcia's years of experience working with various women's professional programs, coupled with this direct development of some of the world's top female basketball players, makes him ideal for this role of leading the Senior Women's team. Our partners at IMG Reliance played a pivotal role in bringing Francisco Garcia to India," said Roopam Harish Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of BFI.
