French CAR force to rise to 1,600: Hollande

The number of French troops in the troubled Central African Republic will rise to 1,600 by today, President Francois Hollande said.

Hollande also revealed that the UN-mandated force will seek to disarmed the militias and other armed groups blamed for a spiral of sectarian violence that has left hundreds dead in recent days.
