Dhanora police in the district have been accused of registering a case of gang-rape a fortnight after the victim, a tribal girl, lodged the complaint.
The incident allegedly took place at Nimgaon in Dhanora tehsil on October 3.
According to the 18-year-old victim, four youths in the village raped her when she stepped out to answer the nature's call at night.
She approached the police on October 5 despite the culprits warning her not to do so, but no FIR was registered, according to BJP leader Sainath Salve.
Salve said he talked to the authorities and the FIR was registered thereafter on October 21.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that a case had been registered, but no arrest has been made so far as some of the accused have moved the court for anticipatory bail.
