Gang behind 400 motorcycle thefts in 2 months busted, 3 held

With the arrest of three persons, including the kingpin, the police today claimed to have busted a gang of motorcycle thieves behind 400-odd motorcycle thefts in the district in two months.

"Five motorcycles, one scooty, accessories of four motorcycles, a gas-cutter, instruments to dismantle motorcycles and 2,750 gms of a powder which could make people unconscious were recovered from near Krishna Green Marriage Home at Sonkh Road on the basis of information provided by the gang members," said SSP Babloo Kumar.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by the Inspector, Kotwali police station arrested the three near Alwar rail bridge yesterday, while two others managed to flee.
 

The group used to sell the stolen motorcycles for Rs 3,000-5,000 to scrap dealers of Kosi Kalan and Hathia and Lahchaura villages under Barsana police station. The scrap dealers, after dismantling the motorcycles, would sell the parts in the open market.
